co-curricular activities: islander magazine
Islander Magazine was one of my co-curricular activities (CCA) in this role, which ran twice a week with a different group of students each time. Half of the team focused on the writing element, while the other half collaborated with me to create the design for the written article. All articles had to be A4 and created on Adobe InDesign. We tried to stick to the same colour theme and font style.
After all articles are created, I combine all files into a single PDF, and it is uploaded to Issuu for the community and public to read. We also create one physical copy of each project.
Co-leading this CCA, I contributed to themes like: Food / Truth / Risk (scroll down for examples)
Article written and designed by me.
Theme: Food.
My Focus: The Psychology of Comfort Food.
I wanted to address why we emotionally eat, what causes us to crave certain types of food, and how comfort foods can have a profound impact on our mental well-being.
This theme was introduced during the last term of my time as a Graduate Assistant, and unfortunately, my CCA and I didn’t have time to refine and combine all the articles due to the school’s timetable. This article will be saved to be featured in the next edition in the next academic year.
